Why We Started Everyday Czech
Everyday Czech was born from our own experience of living abroad.
During our year in Vietnam, we learned very quickly what it feels like to live in a country where the language is difficult, the culture is unfamiliar and even the smallest everyday task can suddenly feel like a full brain workout.
We wanted to connect with the local culture more deeply, but language barriers often made us feel like we were watching life happen from the outside. And honestly? It can be frustrating, lonely and exhausting.
That experience stayed with us.
After travelling around the world and meeting many people who helped us feel welcome along the way, we decided to create a school that does the same for others here in Prague. A place where learning Czech feels supportive, practical and human, not like being thrown into a grammar jungle with no map.
What Everyday Czech is built around
Our goal is simple: to help you feel less lost and more at home in the Czech Republic.
Yes, we teach Czech grammar, vocabulary and conversation skills. But we also focus on the real-life side of living here — ordering food, talking to neighbours, understanding Czech habits and slowly feeling like you are part of what is happening around you.
That’s why Everyday Czech is built around practical language, cultural connection and a friendly community. Czech cuisine classes, movie nights, weekend trips and other cultural events are part of how we help students understand not just the language, but the country they are living in.
Because learning Czech is one thing. Feeling like you belong here is the bigger win.
Our students
Our students come from all over the world and bring completely different stories with them.
Some are exchange students. Some work in IT, business, education or creative fields. Some moved here for love, some for work, some for studies and some simply because Prague somehow happened, and now they are trying to understand both Czech grammar and Czech people.
You might be here temporarily, or you might be building a long-term life in the Czech Republic. Either way, Czech can help you feel more independent, more connected and less like you need Google Translate to be your emotional support app.

How our classes work
Everyday Czech started mainly as an offline Czech school in Prague, but after moving online during Covid, we realised that online Czech lessons worked better for many of our students. They saved time, made classes easier to fit into busy schedules and gave everyone more flexibility.
To keep the lessons personal, our online Czech courses are taught in small groups of maximum 4 students, so everyone has space to speak, ask questions and get individual feedback. Classes usually take place via Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
You can also attend a class for free before joining, and if you know you’ll miss a lesson, we’ll do our best to offer a suitable make-up lesson in another group, if one is available.
All of our courses are online, but in-person lessons may be possible by agreement, depending on the teacher, schedule and course type.
