Meet our teachers

Meet the people who will guide you through Czech grammar, real-life conversation and the occasional “why does this word have no vowels?” moments.

Anna

Anna is the founder and head teacher of Everyday Czech. She has been teaching Czech to foreigners since 2012 and she still enjoys it very much. She is delighted by daily interaction with foreigners and helping them to immerse into Czech culture. With her husband, she spent a year in Vietnam which, besides other things, helped her to understand students who are trying to learn an extremely difficult language and immersing themselves into a completely different culture. Unlike most of her students, Anna gave up learning Vietnamese after only one month, but the experience was eye-opening. Since then, she makes her lessons even more interactive and playful with the focus on conversation and practical usage.

Brett

As the Director of Business Communications, Brett strives to facilitate a personal touch with each and every student and Corporate partner alike. Maintaining an open-minded outlook on ways to help improve the student experience gives him motivation to continue in his role. Being a small fish in a big pond of mega schools here in Prague, he sets out to have the edge over the rest through his willingness to listen to his students feedback and cooperate with them to incorporate helpful and worthy improvements in methodology and new ways to deliver exciting materials.

Brett’s also a native English teacher, and has taught at various levels including private schools, Universities, and language schools. He enjoys ushering his students along their language journey, and thrives in interactive situations. Seeing his students realise that ‘Ah-ha’ light-bulb moment as they learn and understand a new language point makes all their collective work worthwhile.

Eliška

Eliška is currently studying Portuguese linguistics and French philology at Charles University in Prague. She spent a year in secondary school in Dijon where she discovered her passion for traveling and experiencing different cultures. She is now doing a semester in Strasbourg as part of her degree. Eliška is fascinated by languages and apart from French and Portuguese, she’s also studying English, Spanish and Latin. So she knows what it takes to learn a new language. Therefore she decided to start teaching Czech, her mother tongue, and experience the process from a different point of view. Besides teaching and learning, she loves literature, music and good coffee.

Lenka

Languages have always been a hobby for Lenka, although she took a different direction in her studies and studied architecture at the Brno University of Technology (CR) and Contemporary dance in the Irish World Academy in Limerick (Ireland). She is fascinated by the phenomenon that with each new language acquired, a new understanding of the culture, psychology and behaviour of the people who speak it opens up. For this reason, she is excited to be part of a team of Czech language teachers and to help her students to do the same – so that they can approach this understanding of the Czech language and culture and feel a little more at home here!

Karolína

Karolína has always loved languages and the way they connect people and cultures. During her Master’s studies in marketing, she spent two semesters in southern Spain, where she arrived with basically zero Spanish and quickly learned how frustrating it can be to need a language before you can actually use it.

As a Czech native speaker, she is excited to help students discover Czech, a beautiful but famously complicated language. At Everyday Czech, she wants students to feel comfortable speaking, making mistakes and building confidence because mistakes are part of the process. And sometimes, “the most embarrassing” ones make the best stories later.
